Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus, It was operational again in November 2001, based on UPM 2001-2010 third strategic plan which was to upgrade UPM into an international center for agriculture, bioresource studies and services. UPMKB’s main focus is in agribio fields such as agriculture, forestry, fishery, livestock, food and environment.

Function and Responsibility
The main functions and responsibilities of the Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus Sarawak are as follow :
To plan and implement academic programs offered at Diploma, Bachelor and Postgraduate levels.
To plan and manage expenditures for management and research.
To plan and manage development and human resource needs.
To plan the development of infrastructure facilities, covering the maintenance and development of the campus as a whole.
To plan and implement activities on morale development, leadership, thinking skills, entrepreneurship, communication and expansion of students’ potentials.
To plan, implement and collaborate with external agencies.
To manage and supervise research programs through university allocation and support from the external agencies.
To utilize existing experts for consultation and community service through extension.
To plan and control related policies and regulations to enhance the level of security in the campus.
To plan, implement and improve the level of ICT services and utilization in UPMKB.
