Universiti Teknologi Mara (Uitm) Pulau Pinang
Universiti Teknologi Mara (Uitm) Pulau Pinang, Penang is a state in Malaysia. The country is divided into two parts by the Straits of Malacca (see map) across the island and Seberang Perai with bridges and ferries in the Prai, Glugor and Inside seas. The state is also the first British settlement in Peninsular Malaysia and is only a separating state in Malaysia. The name Pulau Pinang is derived from pinang tree (areca catechu). It is also called Tanjung Bidara before Penang is known. There are many beaches located in Penang. Penang has the second highest per capita GDP, ie RM 33456 in 2010 in Malaysia after the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, which is RM 55951.
Universiti Teknologi MARA Penang began operations on 16 June 1996 at the temporary campus in Permatang Pasir and it is the 11th UiTM campus. The real campus of UiTM Pulau Pinang was at Jalan Permatang Pauh and was first occupied in August 2003. The first intake of students at UiTM Penang was implemented in July 1996 with enrollment of 230 students. The first batch of this student who graduated from UiTM Pulau Pinang was in May 1999. The starting staff here are 40 people including 9 academic staff. The main focus of UiTM Pulau Pinang is the field of electrical, mechanical and civil engineering at the diploma level. Campus has been planned since 1995 with a capacity of 10,000 enrollment with engineering, hotel management and tourism as key areas.
