A state treasury is a department responsible for economic, financial, and state revenues. The Treasurer is usually the head of the Treasury, though, in some countries (such as the U.K. or the United States) treasurer to the Treasury Secretary, or “Chancellor of the Exchequer”. In Australia, the Australian Treasurer is the senior Minister and is usually the second most important member of the Executive after the Prime Minister. From 1867 to 1993, Ontario’s Finance Minister was known as the Ontario Treasurer.
The Treasurer’s Office, Universiti Teknologi MARA is the ultimate pulse in Financial Management of the University. It is based on:

The Development of the Treasurer’s Office was in line with the University’s development since it was established as RIDA Training Hall from 1956 until 1965, Maktab MARA from 1965 to 1967 and Institute of Technology MARA from 1967 to 1999. On August 26, 1999, The Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia at the time that, Dato ‘Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has announced the change of ITM name to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Up to now, the Treasurer’s Office has expanded its services to 26 branch campuses , divisions and Zone Finance Units to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the structure, processes, services and resources as well as possible in supporting UiTM’s aspiration to become a world-class center of learning and becoming a university best.
The UiTM Perlis Treasurer Office started on July 5, 1974 at the temporary campus at Scout House in Padang Katong (now as Pusat Giat Kangar). In 1980 the temporary campus had moved to a permanent campus in Arau, Perlis. Currently, the Treasurer Office is located at Level 4, Adm inistrative Building headed by Deputy Treasurer and supported by 22 staff of various levels.
