Universiti Teknologi Mara Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur officially the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, or commonly known as KL, is the national capital of Malaysia as well as its largest city. The only global city in Malaysia, it covers an area of 243 km2 (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.73 million as of 2016. Greater Kuala Lumpur, also known as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.25 million people as of 2017. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in South-East Asia, in both population and economic development.
Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) is the flagship institution of Universiti Teknologi Mara System, the largest system of higher education in Malaysia which consists of seven autonomous campuses, six satellite campuses in Shah Alam, 11 state satellite campuses, and 21 affiliated colleges that educates over 175,000 students. UiTM’s main campus is located in Shah Alam with its satellite campuses in Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Puncak Alam City. There are 24 faculties and 2 academic centres that offer 312 programmes in UiTM. Besides that, UiTM has 13 branch campuses set up across the country to encourage higher education. Programmes UiTM continues to provide knowledge and expertise for Bumiputeras in all fields of study through their programmes and research to ensure strong leadership and dynamic involvement in all professional fields with sound ethical standing. Its programmes include Accounting & Finance, Architecture, Education, Business, Language Studies, Pharmacy, Information & Computer Technology, Communications and Engineering.
The Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies was established on January 14, 2004. Although a new faculty (in name), the historical roots date back to 1965 when the School of Administration and Law was set up.
The faculty is proud of developing carefully niche undergraduate and master’s programs. In 1993, the Faculty introduced the degree of Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Honours) to train young and bright Malaysians to hold office as Company Secretaries and Administrators. The graduates with relevant work experience can now join the Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries (MACS).
