FOUNDATION IN SCIENCE (JPT/BPP(FA5703)10/20)

The FiS is shaped to equip the students with the knowledge, skills and practical skills needed to bridge them from secondary studies to tertiary level especially in the areas of Sustainability and Conservation, and Biology related studies. They will enjoy the exposure to science and nature through workshops, seminars, experiments in the laboratories and also during the fieldworks in our living classrooms, the conservation areas namely Danum Valley, Maliau Basin, Imbak Canyon and Silam-Darvel Bay which will build the students’ interest in sustainability and conservation.

Each of these conservation areas are fully equipped with a research station and complete with field laboratories and accommodation facilities for researchers. The students will be allowed to do mini research and projects in these areas and join educational programs in biodiversity, conservation biology, ecotourism and park management.

In FiS we focuses on communicative and student-centered approach in all of our teaching and the students are expected to actively participate in activities, discussions, and projects. Our curriculum is also designed to help the students developing their English proficiency in communicative skills including reading, writing, speaking, and listening while strengthening their creative and critical thinking skills. Assessments will normally include coursework, quizzes, laboratory reports and other structured assignments and written final examinations.

With its affordable fees, high quality curriculum, supportive and experienced teaching staffs and we offer three intakes (April, August and December) across the year so the students can choose the time frame that is most suitable for them.
