Program Di Universiti Sains Malaysia,

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was the second university established in Malaysia in 1969. At present, USM has approximately 30,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate levels at its 17 Academic Schools on the main campus in the island of Penang (240 hectares); 6 Schools at the Engineering Campus in Nibong Tebal which is approximately 50km from the main campus; and 3 Schools at the Health Campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan which is approximately 300km from the main campus.

As one of the top universities in Malaysia, USM has made it a priority to transform the local education landscape towards sustainability through the nurturing of human beings as the seed of sustainable social transformation amongst its staff and students. Currently, sustainability is one the major thrust of the university and it is being mainstreamed across the university’s curricula. The Master’s in Sustainable Development Practice (MSDP) Program fits nicely with USM’s endeavor towards sustainability. The MSDP Program at USM provides multi disciplinary training to existing and aspiring development practitioners to help them understand and address the complicated nature of development challenges with an emphasis on the South East Asian region. The USM’s MSDP Program is a 44-credit program that is typically completed in 24 months. Students are trained in Sustainable Development, Global Health, Management, Economics and Natural Sciences. Through its strong ties with local communities, government, industries and NGOs, students have a wide range of options for excellent field training opportunities.
