Crea spire Studios, a student company was set up on 4thNovember 2016 and was given a pilot project consisting of industrial level 2D and 3D animation product. Early exposure for this new start up is eye opening for the students in terms of production
management, creating content and owning intellectual property. This paper discusses the motivation, early implementation and future challenges of this
Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) is the 19th public university in Malaysia. It was formed in 2006 and aiming to champion entrepreneurship with its slogan “Entrepreneurship is ourthrust”. In line with the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015–2025, which support 1stshift of 10thLearned Values–Driven Talent, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) has taken various initiatives toinculcatewidespread entrepreneurial attributes among its members.
The Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (FTKW) is one of the facultiesin Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), introduced a program in creative technology with the emphasis on design and entrepreneur skill (Shuaib & Azizan,2011). The faculty’s tagline “sustaining heritage and championing creative technology” was meant to utilize creative technology and heritage as elements in creative industries. Thus, around October 2016, Creative Accelerator Centre (CAC) was formed by the faculty as an impetus to the mission.
The focus is the paper will be on approach taken and the experience of preparing and establishing a student–founded company into real life working experience and environment in handling Industry level tasks. According to Cheng & Zhang (2010), project–based learning can aid student in overcoming long–term challenges and compound abilities to resolve the complex interdisciplinary problems. Thus, the focus will also be on the process and working pipeline of the company and training that should the company undergo in order to realize the main objective which is to become entrepreneurial ready.
