Asasi Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, the word Asasi means foundation. Pre-University (PPPU) is located on East Campus, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan. There are two main programs of study; Foundation for Physical Science and Foundation for Physical Science. The two Programmes were introduced during the 2010/2011 Academic Session . The program is under the purview of the Ministry of Education (MOE).

The Programmes offered are only for Malaysian Bumiputera.

Programme Objectives

The courses offered for Foundation for Physical Science at Pre-University has been designed to prepare students to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering or other related Scence field.

Meanwhile for Foundation for Life Science at Pre-University has been designed to prepare students to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nursing, Aquatic Science, Molecular Biology, Plant Technology and Zoology.

 

Foundation in Physical Science

Course Description

The courses offered for Foundation for Physical Science at Pre-University has been designed to prepare students to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering or other related Scence field.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students would be given the opportunities to further their studies for UNIMAS Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Chemistry Engineering, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Electronics Engineering (Telecommunications), Electronics Engineering (Computer), Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computational Science, Multimedia Computing, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Network Computing, Human Resource Development, Cognitive Science and Resource Chemistry.

Curriculum
This is a 1 year Programme divided into 2 Semesters.

 The duration of Study Week for each Semester are 18 weeks.
Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into most undergraduate programmes are as follows:

Good pass in the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) with at least 5 credits (Grade C) including Bahasa Melayu subject and a pass in Sejarah subject (for SPM 2013 and above) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)

SPM

To get at least a credit with C Grade in SPM Level for below subjects:

  • Physics;
  • Mathematics;
  • Bahasa Inggeris;
  • Additional Mathematics; and
  • Chemistry

AND
To get at least a credit with C Grade in SPM Level in any one (1) of the subjects:

  • Biology
  • Pengajian Kejuruteraan Awam
  • Pengajian Kejuruteraan Elektrik & Elektronik
  • Pengajian Kejuruteraan Mekanikal
  • Teknologi Kejuruteraan
  • Lukisan Kejuruteraan
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
